Who we are
Kununurra Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation (KWAC) is an Aboriginal-run, community-led not-for-profit that has supported the Kununurra community since 1979.
All our board members are Miriwoong people, and our program staff are Aboriginal. In Miriwoong, Waringarri means “a group of people coming together”, a name that reflects our deep connection to culture and the community we serve.
KWAC is a trusted place of support for generations of families in and around Kununurra. We deliver culturally safe, community-driven programs that respond to local needs and empower our people.
With strong partnerships and long-standing relationships, we work together to tackle social challenges through culturally grounded approaches. Our staff are respected, known, and trusted to create safe spaces for healing, support, and growth.
Our vision
Our people have social and economic wellbeing with strong language and culture.
Our mission
We develop strong relationships enabling us to provide holistic support to community, with lore and culture, health and wellbeing as the underlying core focus.

Our history
KWAC began by delivering essential services to 23 outstations and three town reserves supporting community by delivering mail, refueling generators, helping with pensions, and providing supplies.
Over the past 45 years, we’ve also provided social housing and expanded our support as the needs of our community have grown. Our journey reflects the strength and resilience of our people, and our deep commitment to walking alongside them.
