Who we are

Kununurra Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation (KWAC) is a not-for-profit organisation that has served the community for over 40 years.

We aim to build strong Aboriginal communities through a range of programs that incorporate ‘on Country‘ healing.

Our programs aim to tackle the social issues that our people face.

Social change is a commitment that Kununurra Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation (KWAC) takes seriously. This is why we are engaged with many other Kununurra stakeholders and partners in addressing the issues affecting our people, and advocating for Miriwoong community members in the region. We run programs in line with our vision to ensure our people have social and economic wellbeing with strong language and culture. These programs include, domestic violence prevention, support for housing maintenance, improving access to and completion of vocational training, and reducing unemployment and financial stress.

We see the effects of alcohol on Miriwong people on a daily basis and are committed to providing a pathway back to health and wellbeing. This requires appropriate interventions to support informed decision making, promote behavioural change, and ultimately reduce the negative impacts of alcohol on individuals, families and the community.

We believe that only through sustainable change can there be real improved quality of life.
