Empowering Youth

Our Empowering Youth program partners with local agencies and community members to support young people, encouraging positive community engagement through meaningful activities.

We run regular activities like sports, Magic Memories Media workshops, hub nights, and on Country trips. Our school holiday programs include pool parties, basketball competitions, and skate park events.

We also support community-wide celebrations such as Youth Week and NAIDOC Week.

Magic Memories Media Family Photo Shoot

Magic Memories Media is a digital media program supporting Aboriginal young people in Kununurra through our Empowering Youth program to learn photography, storytelling and content creation skills while building confidence, creativity and connection to community.

Through weekly workshops, participants develop practical skills, create content that matters to them and share positive stories about their lives, families and community. The program is helping young people build pathways into further education, training and future employment through hands-on experience with photography, digital editing and publishing.

Recently, our young photographers put their skills into practice at a Family Day shoot.

Magic Memories Media is about more than learning technical skills. It is about creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, find their voice and share the stories that matter to them.

We are excited to share more of their work over the coming months as they continue developing their skills and producing content that celebrates community, culture and the things that bring us together.

Through this program our young people are supported by Photographer/Videographer/Journalist Vicky Biorac – Be Kimberley Creative.
